Profile: Biography Soulboy Since the age of 19 SoulBoy has been a DJ and he will be one for a few more years. Known in the Netherlands and abroad for his energetic sets, first as Peddo and now for a year as SoulBoy. A new name and a new vision on music. But under his name Peddo he achieved his biggest success and played at almost every club in the Netherlands. During a gig at the world famous Escape Venue in Amsterdam he got in contact with Robert Verkerk. Robert was the producer of DJ Astrid who was a very big trance/progressive DJ at that time. Robert was impressed by Peddo's skills and demo's so he decided to work with him on his discography. Together they made a remix of DJ Astrid "“The Spell" not knowing the remix would be such a success in the trance scene. Most of the big name DJ's played the remix, but what really opened doors for him was the fact Judge Jules played it on his BBC 1 radio show for a few weeks. Because of all this airplay he got gigs in Tel Aviv, WMC Miami (1999 and 2000), Chicago, Oslo and London (to name a few). Peddo's name was rising in the scene and because of this he met Alex Dijksterhuis who is better known as Jamez. Peddo as a DJ name didn't fit him anymore because he wanted to go back to his roots Soul so he decided to change his name to Soulboy. Together with Jamez they want to produce deephouse/techhouse with a soulful vibe so the name wasn't that hard to come up with. The first tracks are already a great success among dj's. The track “All Good” feat. Chappell (deephouse vocal track) is well received by DJ's and is about to be released on Dos Palomas Negras Records. Because of this success another track with Chappell was made called “A part of me”. The track is signed to new label Sniff Your Ears Records and was remixed by Conan Liquid. The track already has massive support from the big name dj’s. The remix for Johnny Deekay - Vibrationz (progressive techhouse and out now on Intentionz Music) receives massive support by The Scumfrog (who played it on his popular radio show Glam Scum episode 7), Eric Entrena (who dropped it at Pacha, Barcelona) and Laidback Luke (who played it at Super Me and You at Miami). It has also airplay on Dance Tunes radio and Radio 538 Powermix (most popular radio station in the Netherlands). His productions with Jamez start getting noticed around the globe. One of the tracks they produced called "Surface Tension", was played recently by Kevin Saunderson in his set for Ibiza Global Radio. Together with A&G Agency Soulboy is at this moment negotiating with well-known national & international dance labels for his releases later this year. "Soulboy is expanding his horizon again with gigs in London, Antwerp, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro and Copenhagen. So keep your eyes open for Soulboy." Websites:
