Welcome to issue 4 of the SSRadio newsletter
|
Welcome to issue 4. This week we take five with SSRadio veteren Steve Tee, tell you how you can link your Twitter and Facebook accounts, tell you about some upcoming UK events that we're involved with, and announce the winners of the recent Defected CD competition.
With so many social networks to keep yourself updated on these days, anything that can save you a bit of time is very welcome. One such tool that we are big fans of is the official Twitter application for Facebook, which will allow your Facebook status to automatically update with your latest tweet - helping you spread your message to a wider audience with minimum effort!
To install it, simply visit the application page, click the 'Go to application' button, and follow the instructions given. Be sure to check the 'Allow Twitter to update my Facebook status' option when prompted.
Don't forget that you can also have SSRadio automatically update your Twitter status (and hence your Facebook status also) by entering your Twitter account details on your SSRadio profile page.

One of our longest-standing DJs and host of the vintage-fuelled Sunday Lunchtime Session show, Steve Tee, takes five to tell us a little about his history as a DJ.
-
Describe the music you play?
70s soul, jazz-funk and obscure disco.
-
Who are your inspirations, ie. musicians/producers etc?
Most of the stuff I buy these days are little-known tunes by one-hit wonders on obscure labels. Of the more well-known people, Tommy Stewart and the Mizell Brothers been involved in plenty of good tunes. Specific artists such as Donald Byrd and Roy Ayers were an influence growing up. Like most people my age I was swept away with the house revolution in the late 80s and bought house music obsessively for about 10 years. I used to buy pretty much everything Masters At Work did and collected Strictly Rhythm 12s for a few years in the early/mid-90s.
-
What are your current top 3 tracks?
Impossible. Can I give you 300? Alright then, here's 3 off the top of my head:
- Blood Hollins - Don't Give It Up
- Oscar Perry - Teasing Me
- Otis Brown's Grade A - Strut On
-
What is your most memorable set or DJ moment?
The best times are always when I'm DJing to friends in an intimate environment who know what I'm like about playing records. There's been plenty of back to mine sessions (when the pubs used to shut at 11) and suddenly it's 7 in the morning and I've been playing all night. I've got a two year old son now so things are a bit quieter than they used to be!

Tell us something we don't know about Steve Tee?
I run an online business selling scandinavian baby and young children's clothes - feel free to come in and browse www.barnyardkids.co.uk
You can catch The Sunday Lunchtime Session on SSRadio's Funk & Disco channel every Sunday at 12:00 UK time. And if you can't catch it live, you can of course listen again and podcast at your leisure.
